Thanh Van's abstract landscape paintings are characterised by his unique design of simplified round trees with an airy cotton candy texture, complemented with a brightly coloured backdrop. The tranquil ambience of the night and cool air across the water surface is conveyed using emotive blue colours. Various elements including a wooden house and boat beneath the trees are carefully balanced to evoke a sense of calm. Thanh Van graduated from Hanoi Fine Art University in 2000, specialising in oil paintings. A member of the Vietnam Fine Art Association, Thanh Van has held a solo exhibition at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in 2006.
