Day In Day Out I is an impressive portrayal of still life featuring signature elements. Painted using delicate earth tones, Yap Chin Hoe's skill and attention to detail can be seen in the textures of the orchid flower, dragonflies, and blossom motif bowl placed on top of an embroidered lace. Yap Chin Hoe demonstrated his talent at an early age - before he graduated from the Malaysian Institute of Art in 1991, his work has netted him awards, and was displayed in 1990's Young Contemporary Artists Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur. With a double major in oil painting and printmaking, Yap puts a spin on the Western still life, employing Oriental porcelain and creatures as his theme.
