Wilful Reminiscence (The Mask) captures the memories of childhood through play. Executed on a monumental scale, the painting features two young children dominating the entire canvas using a bold palette of complementary colours. The background is devised through an experimental layout comprised of vibrant geometric layers which intercept the composition. Haziq Syawal received his bachelor's in fine art from UiTM in 2016. His solo exhibitions include Frame-In-Frame (2023), Stills: Solo Exhibition by Haziq Syawal (2021), and Erratic Ride (2019). He has participated in various group shows including Turun Tanah, Galeri Puteh (2022), Petals of Nationalism, Artas Galeri (2022), and Kawan, Segaris Art Centre (2022).
