An important possession in the field of agriculture, water buffaloes were essential in the ploughing of rice fields in Asia. Ho Hee Khim portrays a scene of magical grandeur, as he depicts a herd of buffaloes emerging from the calm waters. The artist pays attention to the buffalo's graceful crescent shaped horns which curve backwards. Ho Hee Khim was also renowned for his delicate still life paintings of orchids.
