Tan Kian Por was a Singaporean artist celebrated for his mastery of Chinese ink painting, calligraphy, and seal carving. Born in Chaozhou, China, he received his training at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore and graduated in 1970. His ink paintings bridge tradition and modernity, reinterpreting classical bird and flower paintings with a contemporary sensibility. Recognised for his contributions to the local art scene, Tan was awarded the prestigious Cultural Medallion Award by the Singapore Government in 2001. He was the founder and chairman of the Siaw-Tao Chinese Seal-Carving, Calligraphy & Painting Society.
