A renowned architectural gem of Southeast Asia, Penang’s capital Georgetown is notable for its eclectic and authentic street food. By harnessing intricate yet refined watercolour strokes as a medium, Alex Leong cultivates the nostalgic memories of the streets of Penang. This work illustrates one of the historical streets located in Kampung Malabar. He fuses local historical buildings with a communal spirit, exploring trades, hawker stalls, coffee shops and street scenes. With many solo exhibitions along his journey as an artist, Alex Leong has been actively participating in group exhibitions locally and abroad, e.g. Singapore, China, Indonesia, and Korea.
