A forceful arrangement of objects including picture frames, carpet, textiles, books, vessels, animal skeletal specimens, and flying birds demonstrate Suhaidi's impeccable skill. Meanwhile, a flying duck across the canvas exudes the feeling of motion, juxtaposed with the still objects. The overall palette is rustic and earthy, with luxurious red accents found in the textiles. Exploring issues of nature and memory, this work displays Suhaidi's reinterpretation of the still life genre. Suhaidi Razi graduated with a BFA in 1999 and MFA in 2005 at UiTM Shah Alam. He has won several prizes (including Nokia Art Award in 2002). He also won the Major Award in the Pahang painting competition (2003), Johor Historical Building (2004) and numerous Minor Awards, Grand Prize in Life-drawing (Pesta Anggerik, Galeri Shah Alam, 2004), Traditional Malay House Design (Malacca, 2006), Historical Painting Johor (2008), Nature Terengganu (2008), Historical Terengganu (2009). His first solos Rainforest and A Sanctuary, were held at the Batang Ai Longhouse Resort and KL Hilton respectively in 1997. Then came Passage at NN Gallery in 2011, Dream Pipes at Galeri Chandan in 2012, Imagine The Imagination at White Box Publika in 2013, and Paradox (organised by Curate Henry Butcher) at Galeri Prima in 2017. He was selected for a solo show booth in Art Expo Malaysia Plus (2017).
