Sirkus Gajah is a dreamy interpretation of a magical elephant circus that is integrated in a whimsical landscape. This highly imaginative piece reveals the artist's fascination for performances and dreams, incorporating elephants engaged in various poses and figures interacting with one another. Wahyu Gunawan received his education at the Indonesia Institute of Art, 1994-2004. Upon graduation, he participated in numerous exhibitions in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Korea. He was the winner of the 5 Best Nokia Indonesia Art Award (2000), finalist of Jakarta Art Award (2010), and the winner of the Highly Commended Award, UOB Painting of the Year Competition (2011). He had participated in exhibitions such as the “Art Triangle” Matahati in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2010), and Percakapan Masa in the Indonesia National Gallery, Jakarta (2010). His solo exhibition Get Lucky was held at Koong Gallery, Jakarta in 2006.
