Memories of neighbourhood shops offering a range of essentials featuring shoes, magazines, and bread etc are deftly illustrated here. The work is painted in soft colours, evoking a relaxed atmosphere of an old street, filled with a community of people who appreciates the little things in life. It was a time where people used to travel by bicycles, before George Town became a major tourist destination, its streets later became filled with crowds on weekends. With many solo exhibitions along his journey as an artist, Alex Leong has been actively participating in group exhibitions locally and abroad, e.g. Singapore, China, Indonesia, and Korea.
